Sophia

KALAMA, Wash. — Kalama School District is proud to announce Sophia Carter as the district’s very first Student of the Month for the 2026–2027 school year!

Sophia has kicked off the fall semester with exceptional enthusiasm, strong leadership, and an inspiring vision for her future. Aspiring to enter the pediatric medical field, she is already laying a solid foundation for her career by diving headfirst into her English and Early Childhood Development coursework.

Her dedication and positive energy have not gone unnoticed by the KHS faculty.

"Sophia has started the year off showing an eagerness to learn," said English and Early Childhood Development teacher Ms. Hall. "She shared her goals with me about entering the pediatric medical field and is taking both English and Early Childhood Development classes very seriously. Her work is on time, she contributes to the class in a positive way, is willing to help out her peers, and is all in all, a kind, positive person."

In addition to her strong academic focus, Sophia stands out as an active leader among her peers.

"I work with Sophia Carter during CT and I can see she is a leader in the class," noted Mrs. Davis. "She is always anticipating what needs to be done in order to be successful in class, she supports class activities, and collaborates with other students when needed."

Whether tackling complex coursework or collaborating on group projects, Sophia brings resilience, courtesy, and high standards to everything she does.

"Sophia consistently keeps pace with coursework and approaches challenging tasks with a positive, resilient attitude," shared Mr. Phillips. "She is remarkably courteous, professional, and kind to both her peers and teachers."

Sophia exemplifies the core values of Kalama High School through her kindness, work ethic, and commitment to serving others. Please join the entire Kalama School District community in congratulating Sophia Carter on being named the September 2026 Student of the Month!
