Kalama School District is now enrolling kindergarten and preschool students for the 2022-2023 school year. Registration opened on Monday, March 21.
Families with children who are five years of age by August 31, 2022 and who reside in the district are eligible to register for full-day kindergarten. Kalama School District’s kindergarten program provides young learners with the opportunity to develop essential social, emotional and problem-solving skills, preparing them for success in later grades and life.
Kindergarten registration packets are available online or can be picked up at the Kalama Elementary School office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days.
Families with younger children (between three and five years old by August 31, 2022) have the option to register for the district’s fully-inclusive preschool program, LIttle Nooks Preschool. The fee-based program is offered twice a day (morning/afternoon), four days a week (M-Tu-Th-Fri.) at Kalama Elementary School. Teachers in the program utilize hands-on activities and fun learning exercises to help prepare children socially and academically for Kindergarten.
Preschool registration packets are available online or can be picked up at the elementary school between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days.
To participate in either program, families will need to provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate as well as current immunization records.
Families can learn more about the district’s preschool and kindergarten offerings during an open house “Round-Up” event on Thursday, April 14. Attendees will be able to visit classrooms, meet the teachers, and get questions answered. With two sessions to choose from (4-5pm and 5:30-6:30pm), families are asked to contact the school office at 360-673-5207 to reserve a time.
