The Kalama High School Drama program invites you to attend a production of "Mean Girls," based on the 2004 Paramount Pictures film.

The play follows Cady Heron, a young girl who has spent most of her childhood in Kenya with her anthropologist parents. Now she must learn to traverse a new jungle: high school! Cady has to navigate all the intricacies that high school can offer including friends, enemies, cliques, and boys! Just when she thinks she found a place to fit in, she meets Regina George and the Plastics…

“This production takes me back to 2004, watching ‘Mean Girls’ all over again, feeling for Cady, hating Regina, and then hating Cady and feeling for Regina in what is an ever-lasting retelling of the jungle that is high school,” said Michael Ready, director of the Drama program at Kalama High School.

According to Ready, “Mean Girls” is one of the most challenging and most interesting shows he has worked on in his more than 15 years of being involved in theatre production.

“From challenging songs, a mostly new performing cast, and tech needs that outweigh our current capacity, making this play work at Kalama has been tough,” said Ready. “However, thanks to an amazing leading cast, great choreography, and diligence of our theatre tech students, we have carved out what I think will be another excellent notch in the belt of Kalama Theatre.”
